Bryan Lawton's family was told he wouldn't live past a year, but he far surpassed anyone's expectations. He went on to play sports, attend school, and do it all with a sheer iron will to live. He received a double-lung transplant in 1997 that extended his life another 21 years. He competed in the Transplant Games of America on Team Mid-South numerous times. When I met Bryan, he had been battling Cystic Fibrosis for 48 years. I've never met anyone who was so driven, so competitive, and who loved life as much as Bryan.
Bryan passed away March 7, 2019, but the race is far from over. Please consider donating to Bryan's team, Lungs for Life, to continue to fund research that will eventually find a way to defeat Cystic Fibrosis for good.
