Our grand daughter, Cecelia Jayne, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 12 days old. What a shock to our family, we had no idea anyone was a carrier. Our daughter, Kara and her husband George had 3 healthy boys already. I was able to accompany them to their first family meeting at their Cystic Fibrosis care center and learned all about what CF was, how it's treated, what to expect and what life may look like now. It was a lot and after three hours, we were exhausted.
Kara and George worked so hard to keep the kids healthy, but for Cece's first 3 years, she experienced many setbacks. She struggled to get off of her sick plan and had many hospital stays. Since beginning Kalydeco, Cecelia has made great progress. Without the research and development of new medications, like Kalydeco, made possible by the Chstic Fibrosis Foundation, Cecelia may not be where she is today.
Cecelia is such a happy little girl. She has endless energy, is thriving in Kindergarten, and loves playing soccer and tball. We are so grateful for all of the support Kara, George, and our family have had through these past 6 years, but there is more work to do. we won't stop until we find a cure... And we are SO close!!
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who struggle every day just to breathe. I walk for them. Will you join me and support my fundraising goal?
Real progress has been made for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. We’ve come so far, but there’s still so much work to do. I will not stop striding until all those with cystic fibrosis have a cure. We will not leave anyone behind.
Please support me!
We are at a pivotal moment in the history of cystic fibrosis and your support matters. With your help, we can invest our resources in research today, while raising funds for tomorrow, to ensure we have what it takes to reach the finish line. Together, we can make CF stand for Cure Found. Please help me reach my fundraising goal!
