It’s that time of year again and we would love for you to join us on Sunday, April 26th at Coolidge. This is will be a walk and a fun run through the Baylor campus. This is our 13th year for the walk here in Chattanooga and it gets bigger and better each year with food, games and live bands. And if you have been before, you know we use the term “walk” loosely! If you just want to sit and visit with friends, play cornhole, eat hotdogs and listen to some great music, we’re good with that!
This is our largest fundraiser of the year and your help is crucial. Funding for a cure for CF comes from people like me and you. So many important and tangible advancements have been made, but we have a long way to go. Orkambi and Kalydeco are so promising, but they only serve about 6% of the CF population. As you know, Mary Alice is our reason for continuing raising money, however, unfortunately Mary Alice isn’t part of that 6%. So that is why we continue to fight and enlist the help of our friends and family. We need to feel like we are doing something to help find a cure for MA and others that suffer. Last October made this even more real for us as Mary Alice was hospitalized for her first two week “tune up”. This is typical for CF patients, but we still had a fear of this day. But the day came and with God’s grace, strength and wisdom we made it through and made the best of it.
The Lane family is thankful to be over that hurdle, but CF is a daily battle. They do not take a day off. They fight it every day and have been very blessed. It doesn’t just impact digestive and respiratory system; it can cause issues with the kidney, liver, pancreas and reproductive system.
So if you can join our team and help fundraise, that is awesome. If you just feel comfortable making a donation, that is great too. And if you just want to show up on Saturday, May 13th to support us, that is amazing. Money isn’t everything. Love, support and prayers carry us each and every day and we appreciate that so much. We hope to see you there!!!!
Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families.
