Danny. Just his name brings a smile to my face. When I try to put into words the impact he had on my life, I know I could go on forever. His laughter was contageous, his strength was/is still an inspiration to many. I feel his presence on sunny days, in strong cups of coffee, when a Bob Marley song plays, on a peaceful drive by the ocean, and when someone cracks a clever joke. He was thoughtful, a kid at heart, curious, forward thinking, fair, non-judgemental, restilliant, focused, and a student of people, places, and things. His battle with Cystic Fibrosis was the last thing he wanted to be remembered for.
We walk for the amazing years we shared with Danny. For the good times. The fun times. The best times. We walk knowing the the bad times are behind us, and the future is brighter for those who face CF today.
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. I walk for them and hope you will support me in my efforts. Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families.
Real progress has been for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. By walking, we are helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis.
