My Great Strides Story
I am the Past Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Care Center at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. I was privileged to oversee the medical care of ~140 children with cystic fibrosis (CF). Once a devastating disease where no one lived beyond one-year of age, the relentless progress of research as now increased the median survival of people with CF to 56 years, and there are people with CF living into their 80s and 90s! This did not happen by chance. It required over 85-years of hard work and research to enhance and extend the lives of people with CF. New medications are literally life changing for about 90% of CF patients. But our work is not done. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) supports this research. But also improves the quality of life for people with CF, and advocates for better health care and research dollars. You can make a difference.
You can support me!
There is a real possibility that CF may be cured in the next 10-20 years. You can share in this victory. If you can, join us on this walk on May 13. If not, make a donation so that some day CF will stand for "Cure Found". Some give by going and participating. Some go by giving.
