Christopher was born January 24th, 2012 and is a true blessing to our family. We learned of Christopher's diagnosis during pregnancy and quickly gathered as much information as possible to learn how to raise a child with CF. There are definitely days that are harder than others, but thru it all Christopher has become a fighter. We will never give up hope that CF will one day stand for Cure Found!
Daily, Christopher takes many different medications to stay as healthy as possible. He has to take digestive enzymes prior to eating so his body can absorb the vital nutrients he needs from the foods he eats. He does his vest treatments twice a day for 20 minutes when he is healthy and if he is sick, that can be increased to 3-4 times daily. This is EVERYDAY, CF never allows him to take a day off. There are times he has to do inhaled antibiotic treatments after his vest when fighting an infection. And there will be times he will have to stay in the hospital 1-2 weeks for IV antibiotic treatments. Even after doing all of this, Christopher still remains an energetic, happy, loving 8 year old that will do anything to make you laugh and smile with him.
Because of the support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation receives, there have been tremendous medical advancements over the years. There is no cure for this disease...yet. With continued support, it really is not a matter of IF a cure will be found, it is a matter of WHEN a cure will be found.
