Last year many of you generously gave to help find a cure and improve the lives of the 30,000 or so Americans who were born with Cystic Fibrosis, an awful disease that gradually robs its victims of lung capacity.
Unfortunately, I must walk again in the Long Beach Great Strides CF Foundation fundraising event and ask for your support, because, although much progress has been made, there is still no cure.
This means my dear friend Jonah, who is now 19 years old, is essentially “middle-age” in CF years. I can’t stand the thought that I, at age 65, could outlive him.
I wonder how discouraged I would be if I had to take dozens of pills and spend 90 minutes on breathing treatments EVERY DAY, plus go to frequent doctor appointments, never taking my health for granted because even a common cold could be life-threatening? Yet you’d never sense that from meeting Jonah.
He’s vibrant, cheerful, ALIVE and living purposefully and enthusiastically. He’s near completion of an intensive year-long leadership program at the Joshua Institute at Hume Lake. Instead of giving up, he’s investing in his FUTURE. And so must I.
You might think I will just be back doing this all again next year. Well if that’s what it takes, I will, but I hope not, because this could be the year - - - the year CF stands for “Cure Found.”
Please click the link if you are willing to support me in this cause. Even more, pray for blessing and a cure for Jonah and others like him. I’m praying that you too will be blessed for caring to even take the time to read this.
Love and blessings,
Scott
