Dear Leann, my angel,
I haven’t forgotten my promise to you. My promise to fight for a cure. But, I think my heart needed some space. Space to grieve. Space to figure out how to move forward. Space to navigate my life without your present guidance. And while I know that was necessary—it also feels selfish. For these are all things you didn’t get to have a chance to do. So, with that being said, I am back to walk in your memory and fight for you and others with cystic fibrosis.
This Great Strides will fall right around 3.5 years without you here. It’s truly hard to believe how much time has passed. But as I always say, unfortunately, it feels like a lifetime without you. Yet, I can still hear your voice, your laugh, your signature CF cough. I wish I could hug you, call you, watch you with your nieces, and just be with you. I will always long for more. I want to walk, raise awareness, raise money for families so that maybe one day no one will have to feel this loss to CF. What a true celebration that will be!
Le, you are not forgotten. You are thought about more often than I think I am aware of. You are spoken of to Avery and Lennon all the time. They will know you. I promise. They will hear about your strength and courage, and strive to have an ounce of it. They will learn about your love for reading, and find the joy in it also. They will learn to live life to the fullest as you did. They will learn to fight for a cure, too. That was my promise, and I intend to keep it you.
So for you, in your memory, we will walk. We will help fundraise to find a cure. And when they do, because one day they will, we will cheers to your bravery and strength with cystic fibrosis.
My angel, I love you and I miss you.
Love,
Em
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who struggle every day just to breathe. I walk for them. Will you join me and support my fundraising goal?
Real progress has been made for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. We’ve come so far, but there’s still so much work to do. I will not stop striding until all those with cystic fibrosis have a cure. We will not leave anyone behind.
Please support me!
We are at a pivotal moment in the history of cystic fibrosis and your support matters. With your help, we can invest our resources in research today, while raising funds for tomorrow, to ensure we have what it takes to reach the finish line. Together, we can make CF stand for Cure Found. Please help me reach my fundraising goal!
