My Great Strides Story
My best friend of 18yrs passed away from cystic fibrosis on September 13 2005. He was only 25yrs old. I was always by his side through the good and not so good times, which included all the trips to Drs., watching him have to take so many different kinds of medicine and treatments. Including the experimental ones due to the severity of his disease.
When possible we were always outside playing sports, fishing or just hanging out. If he was to sick to go outside then it was board games, movies, or video games.
Yet, through it all he lived his best life possible, always laughing, and wanting to help others. There's not a single day that goes by without me thinking of him and missing him more than I could ever put into words. I want to help others so they have the chance to life the lives they so deserve and do the things they want!
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis. By participating in Great Strides, I am helping to end this disease for thousands of people impacted by CF.
Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. The symptoms can vary from person to person, and as people with CF live longer than ever before, their disease can become more complicated, leading to serious health issues.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made extraordinary progress — including fostering the development of more than a dozen CF treatments — but these treatments are not a cure and not everyone can benefit from them. We must keep going.
Your support makes a difference.
By donating to my fundraising goal, you will help advance our mission for a cure for all. Please consider joining us and helping make CF stand for Cure Found.
