Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder that affects approximately 30,000 Americans, impacting their respiratory, digestive, and reproductive systems. These individuals, including parents, siblings, friends, and co-workers, face daily challenges just to breathe. Great Strides is an event that raises awareness and support for those living with CF and their families.
I am one of those individuals living with CF. Until I was twenty-eight, my life was impacted by two week-long hospital stays for lung "tune-ups." Despite my attempts to stay active through cheerleading and dance, CF always caught up with me. My doctors estimated my life expectancy to be 40 years. After getting married, Jay and I faced six years of infertility before adopting our son in 2019. However, with the advent of a new medication called Trikafta, I finally feel "normal" for the first time in my life. In 2023, we were overjoyed to discover that I was pregnant with our miracle girl. Every year, I raise money and awareness for CF in the hopes of finding a cure.
Please support me in my efforts by donating to my Great Strides fundraising campaign. Your tax-deductible gift will help fund groundbreaking research and medical progress, adding tomorrows to the lives of those with CF.
