While Sierra couldn’t benefit from a cure to CF, joining our team can help us get one step closer to a cure for cystic fibrosis for the more than 30,000 people fighting CF.
In 1995, Sierra was born with CF and an ”average life expectancy” in early her 20s because of CF. Cystic fibrosis, a rare, genetic disease, has robbed people of tomorrows – progressively limiting their ability to breathe and tragically shortening life. No one should have to confront a “life expectancy” and CFF is committed to a cure.
When we first starting striding for a cure, we asked Sierra what we should name our team in her honor. She was 9 years old and chose “black bears” and so was born Sierra’s Black Bears. Over Sierra’s life, the advancements in treatments were incredible thanks to the CF Foundation’s support of research.
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with CF. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers who struggle every day in the face of this devasting disease. We walk in Great Strides for them.
Please consider donating and/or joining us. Great Strides is a fun event that provides a fantastic opportunity for family, friends, students, and colleagues to come together to make a difference in the lives of people with CF.
To participate, just click on the "Join our Team" button. From there, you can make a donation and/or start fundraising.
