My Great Strides Story
For the past 17 years, our family has walked with Great Strides in honor of my cousin, Tess. Tess is one of nearly 30,000 people in the United States with cystic fibrosis: a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. Tess spends hours every day doing chest therapy, breathing treatments, sinus rinses, and taking various other medicines to maintain her health. Even with all that, CF is a progressive disease that over time will take its toll on her body. She tries to handle all of this as best she can and still be a kid, but some days are better than others. On May 19th, our family will walk for Tess and all those afflicted with this disease; I hope you will support those efforts!
Tess has been taking a new FDA-approved drug call Trikafta since December 2019. This drug has been life changing. It is helping Tess fight this disease and slow its progression. Starting this drug has greatly improved her health and lung function, and kept her out of the hospital. But we still need to keep researching and developing more drugs to help Tess and all those with CF. I am helping add tomorrow to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me?
You can support me!
