IT'S TIME FOR THE 2020 GREAT STRIDES WALK TO HELP FIND A CURE FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS (CF)! THIS WILL BE TEAM ETERNAL LOVE'S, OUR GROUP'S, 9TH YEAR PARTICIPATING IN THE WALK AND LIKE EVERY YEAR WE HOPE FOR THE BEST ONE YET!
Let me introduce myself. My Name is Ashley and someone near and dear to me has had Cystic Fibrosis. My sister Detra Joann Masters was diagnosed at the age of 7 with this serious condition that left her with chronic problems breathing. She lived on this earth for a total of 20 years until her passing. She left a mark on all those she encountered.
For those of you that don't know, our group supports the Great Strides Walk in memory two very special people in my life that lost their battle with CF: my sister; Detra "Dee Dee" Masters and her fiance Richard "Rick" Smith III. But we also walk for those still fighting their battles and those whom lost along with their greiving families.
This year I set our goal to $500 because I know in my heart we all can do this. Together as Team and United as we walk.
Here's how YOU can get involved no matter where you're at!
*Be a walker: Sign up is at 8am and the walk starts at 9am, but we suggest coming earlier to find adequate parking because this is a big event! Since being at the Akron Zoo; Parking is FREE! Just let them know your here for the event. We will NOT have our canopy tent like in previous years due to limited space. I will grab wristbands and maps for everyone since they don't allow everyone into the Zoo until it's time for the walk. Just Team leaders or individual walkers without teams for sign ins.
They request that everyone's team helps donating at least $50.00 for FREE entry into the zoo. Our team as a whole made a good enough amount that NO ONE had to pay last couple years! Zoo Memberships are still viable to work during this event as well.
*Be a donation collector: Spread the word to your friends and family, and collect donations to support our team! Even if it's $5, $10, or $20! Every little bit helps.
*Be a donator: Monetary funds in any amount are always greatly appreciated to support this cause, and you can donate from wherever you are!

IMPORTANT NOTE ON ATTENDANCE AT FOUNDATION EVENTS:
To reduce the risk of COVID-19 the Foundation is taking steps to host safe events for our community. Please be advised that events may be subject to change at any time based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health officials.
To help minimize the risk of COVID-19, we ask that attendees at CF Foundation events follow these steps:
Where mandated, practice physical distancing and maintain at least a safe 6-foot distance from persons outside of their household.
Face masks are encouraged and should be worn in accordance with local guidelines. (Note, children under two years of age should not wear masks due to safety concerns and therefore should only attend outdoor CF Foundation events where they are able to distance and stay within their family group.)
Follow basic infection, prevention and control practices by regularly washing hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, and by covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Persons with CF should consult their physician before participation in any in-person event as they may be at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
For indoor events, it is CFF policy to invite only one person with CF to be in-person at the event at a time. For outdoor events, people with CF should maintain a safe 6-foot distance from persons outside of their household at all times.
FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS:
For the health and well-being of the CF community, we strongly encourage that participants be fully vaccinated and have received the CDC recommended booster shot when joining us in-person for the event.
Please be advised certain localities and venues may require you to be fully vaccinated and show proof of vaccination. We will communicate these requirements in event communications.
We are counting on the fact that you appreciate the potential consequences of exposing members of the CF community to COVID-19 and will not attend an event if you are feeling ill or have been recently exposed to COVID-19.
We cannot guarantee that all people in attendance at the event, including participants, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, or others, have been fully vaccinated.
