There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with Cystic Fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. My nephew, Matthew Pozsgai, is one of these CF Warriors. I walk for him and everyone else who battles this life-threatening disease.
Watching Matt grow up, I have seen how Cystic Fibrosis can rob a child of the normal, active, healthy life that we are all entitled to live. I’ve seen my brave nephew fight back with all his might, which means undergoing daily treatments, taking countless pills and medications, and spending far too many weeks in the hospital. It is a battle he never gets a break from. Over the years, advances in science and research have made remarkable progress in both improving and lengthening the lives of those who suffer from this horrible disease. But we still have a long way to go.
While real progress has been made for those who have CF, there is still no cure for this devastating disease, and many lives are cut far too short. By walking today, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with Cystic Fibrosis. Will you join me?
