Usually, about this time of year, you hear from us about the Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis fundraising walk we do for our granddaughter, Ella. This year, we're sharing a message directly from Lindsay. Please read her words and consider how you might be able to help.

Hey Folks -
It’s that time of year again when we work with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to raise a little money to help change some lives. Before I get to the how and where and all the donation details… here’s a little update for ya…
First… here’s the biggie… Ella will be starting college in the fall at Beloit College, in good ol’ Beloit, Wisconsin!!! Where I went!!! Can you believe that crazy?!?!!! I never thought that’s where she’d end up but I’m so excited for her. I’m trying not to think too much about what my life will be like without her next year (lonely to be sure)… but what an adventure she’s in for!
As for Ella’s Cystic Fibrosis… well, to be honest, we don’t have to focus too much on Ella’s Cystic Fibrosis these days. Don’t get me wrong… she still spends time every day doing her breathing treatments and still swallows handfuls of pills every time she eats, but because of the latest, greatest medication she’s on (that you helped bring to market with your previous donations) she can actually just live… and dream… and plan.
So… you might be thinking “That’s great! And amazing! So why are you still asking for money?” Well, this latest greatest medication only helps about 90% of the CF population and… while pretty darn great… is not an actual cure. It’s still three pills that have to be taken every day in order to work it’s magic. Also, as a maintenance medication it still brings all the stress and anxiety around having adequate insurance, continued access to the meds, and the fear that somehow it will be taken away. Bottom line… we still desperately need a cure. It’s not lost on us that people are still dying every day from Cystic Fibrosis… and we’re going to keep coming to you for as long as we need to until we get to that cure.
Anything you can give is exceptional and super appreciated. Side note… I apologize for any past years when I was living within the stranglehold of fear and anxiety and every penny felt like life or death. I have a slightly better grasp on reality these days and just appreciate you for whatever level of generosity feels right to you.
So… donation details - there’s a button somewhere on this page for you to make a secure online donation. Super fast… super easy… still so super important.
Thanks so much!
Until there’s a CURE,
~ Lindsay & Ella
