There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. I walk for them and hope you will support me in my efforts.
Specifically, I walk for Isaiah, the son of my best friend from college, Elisabeth, and her husband Harlan. College - you know, that thing we graduated from 25 years ago? He's definitely a product of the two of them - wicked intelligent with a crazy funny sense of humor that fortunately revolves around legos and superheros rather than world domination (and super villians), or we'd all be in trouble. He deserves a fighting chance, and you can help. This year he's started little league, gotten into star wars, and is by all appearances a normal, mischevious little boy. Behind the scenes, his parents have been working very, very hard to keep him that way. Not to belabor the details, but the home environment and its own microscopic inhabitants can be fraught with peril for kids with CF. Think on that a minute - hard enough to keep a house reasonably free from clutter, much less safe for your child.
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. Remember - the research to extend the lifespan of children with CF is self-funded. By walking today, I am helping "add tomorrows" to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me? Support me by making a donation to my Great Strides fundraising campaign today! No amount is too small. Or too big, for that matter. Surprise me :-)
Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families.
