When Joshua was 10 days old, he was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Our first CF Walk happened when he was 10 months old. Today, Joshua is 12 years old and we walk so that someday there will be a cure for CF. He loves math, reading "Harry Potter" books, playing hockey and solving the “Rubik cube”.
Joshua was introduced to hockey by his CHAD buddy, Chris Couturier, at a Battle of Badges game. Chris initially introduced Joshua to hockey and shared his love of the game. The bond that exists between Joshua and Chris is priceless and hockey is Joshua's favorite both during the winter and summer. Since then Joshua has been playing hockey at West Side Arena in Manchester as well as backyard hockey with anyone who will pick up a hockey stick.
In trying to keep Joshua as healthy as possible, he does his “vibrating vest” at least twice a day for 45 minutes along with other daily nebulizer breathing treatments and medications.
The CFF and Vertex Research have found a cure for some CF gene numbers. By walking in Great Strides, we are helping to add tomorrows to the lives of people living with Cystic Fibrosis.
We walk as a "family" in person as well as "in spirit" to find a cure for this devastating disease. Thank you once again, from the bottom of our hearts, for ALL the love and support you have shown to our family whether you are new to our fight or have been with us for years. We truly appreciate each and every one of you and are humbled by any and all donations, blessings and well wishes!! - Helen Fitzgerald and Family
