Welcome to my Page
Cystic fibrosis is a rare, genetic disease found in about 30,000 people in the U.S.
While there has been significant progress in treating this disease, there is still no cure and too many lives are cut far too short. By participating in CF Cycle for Life, I ride to help add tomorrows to the lives of all people living with cystic fibrosis today. Please make a difference and support me by donating to my CF Cycle for Life fundraising campaign today!
Shannon was a friend of mine. A year behind me in school she was the little sister of one of my friends, Michelle. Although a year older than me I was close with Michelle. We grew up on the same end of town, went to school together and bowled on Saturday mornings. Then all of sudden here comes Shannon. I guess she got to that age where she was old enough to hang with the "big kids" because yes a year or 2 really makes a difference. Shannon was a spirit and grew up fast. But through all of this I never knew she had CF. In fact it wasnt until a year after graduation when she came home from college because her CF was flaring. Even then I did not understand what CF was. But in 2000 Shannon was issued a new lease on life, she got a double lung transplant. With this 2nd chance she was not going to be denied the life she wanted but was limited by CF. Shannon went back to college finished her degree in social work and began helping others. Shannon also got married in this time. She spent 8 yrs living her new life. But it wasnt to be. Even after 8 yrs her body rejected the new lungs and Shannon lost her battle with CF. I still remember when my mom called to tell me. She told me Shannon had passed from CF. I am like WHAT THE HELL IS CF? So I looked it up. It wasnt until I did some reading did I fully understand the battle she fought. Admittedly it had been years since I saw Shannon or Michelle but I reached out to Michelle and asked if I could fundraise in memory of Shannon. Michelle said of course and at that time I joined the fight to find a cure for CF and EVERYTHING I do for CF is in her memory.
Since 2008 I have done many fundraisers for CF. Great Strides, Xtreme Hike, Cycle for Life, Brewers Ball. I have made so many great friends and met so many families who struggle with loved ones EVERYDAY fighting this disease. In 2022 we moved back to Pittsburgh and the first thing I did was go to the local CF chapter and volunteer. It hasnt been easy with the pandemic but with things returning to normal I have resumed my aggressive fundraising goals.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal and donate an amount that is meaningful to you!
