My CF Cycle for Life Story

My involvement with CF started in 2008 when I lost a childhood friend.  I had always knew Shannon had an illness but I never understood what CF was until it was too late.  I got involved so I could help families like Shannon's not have to go through the heartbreak of losing a family member.  

Since then I have been introduced to a "family" of CF patients, loved ones, and friends with one thing in mind:  Make CF Stand for CURE FOUND.

And we are making progress.  CF treatments and medications have raised the life expectancy of patients from their 30's just 3 decades ago to their 50's today with some patients living into their 80's.  

There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis. By participating in CF Cycle for Life, I am helping to end this disease for thousands of people impacted by CF.

Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. The symptoms can vary from person to person, and as people with CF live longer than ever before, their disease can become more complicated, leading to serious health issues.  

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made extraordinary progress — including fostering the development of more than a dozen CF treatments — but these treatments are not a cure and not everyone can benefit from them. We must keep going.
