Hello again, it seems a bit crazy that we have been fundraising for CF research for 25 years now! When Rosie was first diagnosed, I stood outside Supervalue in Dungarvan with a collection box for CF Ireland. At that time life expectancy for a person with CF in Ireland was 18 years. 

Rosie is now 26 and has her own health insurance! She is doing well and the predicted life expectancy for a person with Cf in the US is now 56 years!

The past year has been a good year for Rosie, she lives in Cambridge, where she is working, and study's  part time for her MPH at Boston University. Health wise, she is doing well, there have been a few trips to ER and admissions with GI issues but overall she is good! Managing her health and CF still takes up a huge chunk of her time but she does it with a smile :)

The progress in treatment for CF is all thanks to the research that has happened in the past few decades. This research has been made possible by your support of the many fundraisers we have had over the years. We are so grateful for the support we have gotten and although Rosie enjoys relatively good health she has to work hard at maintaining her health. Thanks to the availability of new drugs and treatments, she is now leading a somewhat normal life for a 25 y/o, but life can still be challenging and we cannot take her health for granted. 

Her CF is managable but needs alot of attention and we never take her health for granted. Yes, she is taking a modulator twice daily, but this is not a cure and we don't know the long term impact of these drugs. We are very grateful for access to this treatment until there is a cure. 

 There has been huge progress in the treatment of CF. We are determined to get a Cure and would love if you could join us on our Team Riding For Rosie. Sixty years ago, most children with cystic fibrosis did not live long enough to attend elementary school, but thanks to Foundation-based research and care, many people with CF are living into their forties. Because of tremendous advancements in research, treatments, and care from support of countless donors, many people with CF are living long enough to realize their dreams of attending college, pursuing careers, getting married, and having kids.

While there has been significant progress in treating this disease, there is still no cure and too many lives are cut far too short.
