My CF Climb Story

As I gear up for my second firefighter stair climb this year at the 2024 Portland Firefighter Stair Climb, I am fueled by both personal passion and a deep sense of duty. For me, this event is not just a physical challenge but a meaningful opportunity to honor a legacy and contribute to a cause that has touched my life in profound ways.

Having served in the fire service since 2001, this climb holds a special significance. I follow in the footsteps of my father, who dedicated over 25 years of his life to volunteer firefighting. His commitment to service and his unwavering dedication to making a difference have been my guiding lights throughout my own journey.

My decision to participate in this event is about more than just climbing stairs; it's about carrying forward a legacy of service and compassion. It's about standing in solidarity with the cystic fibrosis community and working towards a future where this disease no longer casts a shadow over the lives of so many.

This cause is personal to me. It's personal because I have seen firsthand the impact of cystic fibrosis on individuals and families. It's personal because I believe that every person affected by CF deserves a chance at a full and vibrant life.

With each step I take, I am reminded of the incredible resilience and strength of those living with cystic fibrosis. They inspire me to push myself beyond my limits and to never lose sight of the ultimate goal: a world free from the burden of this disease.
