Our CF Climb Story
Back in 2011 some close friends and I started Battle for the Bridge to raise money for cystic fibrosis research through an alumni football game. My wife Sara and I have a beautiful 15 year old daughter named Sophia who has cystic fibrosis, and she was the motivation and drive to band together to fight CF.
We held the alumni game for 7 years and were able to raise tens of thousands of dollars for CF, but injuries and age caught up with the guys and we discontinued the football games, in lieu of golf tournaments, fun runs, and participating in official events sponsored by the CF Foundation, such as the current Portland Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge.
While Sophia has been extremely fortunate and healthy in her CF battle, several other kids and adults are not so lucky. There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who struggle every day just to breathe. I climb for Sophia and for them. Will you join me and support my fundraising goal?
Real progress has been made for those who have CF, but there is still no cure for this devastating disease and many lives are cut far too short. We’ve come so far, but there’s still so much work to do. I will not stop climbing until all those with cystic fibrosis have a cure. We will not leave anyone behind.
To participate, just click on the "Join our Team" button. From there, you can make a donation and start fundraising.
By joining our CF Climb team and making a donation, you will be part of a tenacious and passionate group of people committed to ending this disease. Together, let’s make CF stand for Cure Found!
