Claire is a 6-year-old force of nature. She is the most vibrant little girl you’ll ever meet. Her imagination knows no limits, her beauty always shines inside and out, and her inquisitive nature never fades. That little mind of hers is always going, always thinking. It’s a constant reminder of the trouble the rest of are in. Nothing gets by Claire!
One characteristic that you also can’t deny is her strength. At 3 years old, Claire and her family learned the sad news that she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. To say that it was scary would be an understatement. You would never know she is sick by looking at her though. Adjustments were made to their day to day lives, but it never phased Claire. She continues to be the happy beautiful kid she always was. It’s her strength that helps the rest of us stay strong for her.
Claire joined the approximately 30,000 other Americans living with cystic fibrosis, who struggle every day just to breathe. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation shows these survivors compassion and help on a daily basis. We learned of the CF Foundation and the Great Strides walk shortly after Claire was diagnosed. We were extremely overwhelmed from the outpouring of love and support the CF Foundation showed all of us and Claire. This year, we are making it our mission to give back to the foundation that helped us so much.
Any donation helps! Please consider joining our team as well. To become a member of our team, just click on the "Join our Team" button. From there you can make a donation and start your fundraising.
Thank you so much for helping us find a cure.
Hopefully one day soon, we won’t have to say Claire is a fighter.
Foundation-Sponsored Indoor and Outdoor Events and Gatherings
The Foundation is closely following the evolving coronavirus outbreak. We will continue to monitor coronavirus guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and assess whether we need to change any scheduled events.
To reduce the risk of getting and spreading germs at CF Foundation-sponsored events, we ask that everyone follow basic best practices by regularly cleaning your hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow, and maintaining a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection. Medical evidence shows that germs may spread among people with CF through direct and indirect contact, as well as through droplets that travel short distances when a person coughs or sneezes. These germs can lead to worsening symptoms and speed decline in lung function.
To further help reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation's attendance policy recommends inviting only one person with CF to attend the indoor portion of a Foundation-sponsored event at a specific time. For the outdoor portion, the Foundation recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times.
