I can't belive that this year will be our this is our 11th year anniversary participating in the Sacramento Great Strides Walk. Thank you to everyone who has supported Tony's Troops through the years.
A litte background for those who do not know OUR story. Tony's Troops was formed in Honor of our Son Tony, who was diagnosed with CF at 2 weeks old. My husband and I had not idea what CF even was, needless to say, we were scared, confused, mad... our life was turned up side down. Very quickly we had to learn about Cystic Fibrosis, what it meant for our Son, what it meant for our family! Thank God we were introdused to his CF Care Team very early on (he was 1 month when we met them). They have treated us like family since day one, and the love and care they have showed Tony has been amazing!
We always knew that we wanted to do more, learn more, provide more, not just for our son, but everyone else affected by CF. A year after Tony was born, we learned about the Great Strides Walk, and we knew we wanted to join and participate. We did our first walk in 2010, we've been recognized for havign the biggest group, I believe our record was 88 walkers one year. In these last 10 years we have raised closed to $30,000 for the CF Foundation. All proceeeds go to finding a cure for CF, and in the time that we have been walking the medicine advances have been short from a miracle for all of CFers including lil Tony who has benefited from each new medicine that has been introduce, so thank you for your support and for your contribution, it has changed our lifes and many others with CF.
This year our TEAM Goal is $5000, I know we can do it.
If you cannot walk with us you can help in many other ways:
* Be a Cyber Walker and fundraise without having to come to the walk
* Make a donation directly to the Tony's Troops Fundraising page
* Volunteer the day of the event
* Head a fundriaser of you choice for Tony's Troops.
thank you so much for your continued support and love for our family and specailly our Son Tony!!
The Guzman Family- Tony (dad), Liz (mom), Lexy (sister) and Lil Tony (Troop Commander).
Foundation-Sponsored Indoor and Outdoor Events and Gatherings
The Foundation is closely following the evolving coronavirus outbreak. We will continue to monitor coronavirus guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and assess whether we need to change any scheduled events.
To reduce the risk of getting and spreading germs at CF Foundation-sponsored events, we ask that everyone follow basic best practices by regularly cleaning your hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your inner elbow, and maintaining a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection. Medical evidence shows that germs may spread among people with CF through direct and indirect contact, as well as through droplets that travel short distances when a person coughs or sneezes. These germs can lead to worsening symptoms and speed decline in lung function.
To further help reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation's attendance policy recommends inviting only one person with CF to attend the indoor portion of a Foundation-sponsored event at a specific time. For the outdoor portion, the Foundation recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times.
