Why We Stride
Get to know one of our CF Fighters! Our CF Fighters are the face of Great Strides, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraiser. These fighters, who have cystic fibrosis, are committed to helping raise awareness and fund research by fundraising for Great Strides so that someday, we can cure CF.

Lydia Sand Lydia Sand is an adult living with cystic fibrosis from Omaha, Nebraska. Her involvement with the CF Foundation began in 2001 with the formation of her Great Strides team, “Team Lydia.” In 2019 and 2020, she served as the local ambassador for the Omaha Great Strides walk. Lydia is also a member of the adult advisory council.

Emerald and Sapphire Pierre Emerald and Sapphire Pierre are 4 year old twins from south Louisiana. Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at six weeks old, the twins attended their first Great Strides walk in Lafayette with their mom, Crystal, who wanted to learn more about the CF community. Over the past four years, “Team Shine Bright,” has been proud to help raise awareness of cystic fibrosis.

ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, indoor events sponsored by the CF Foundation are strictly prohibited at this time. Scheduled outdoor events must adhere to strict requirements to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection. Events may be subject to change at any time based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health officials.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON ATTENDANCE AT OUTDOOR FOUNDATION EVENTS:
To minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection, attendees at CF Foundation events must adhere to the following requirements:
Persons with CF should consult their physician before participation in any in-person event as they may be at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19. People with CF should maintain a safe 6-foot distance from persons outside of their household at all times.
