Bob's Buddies is walking again for the 18th year in the Great Strides Walk on May 19th to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. Our venue is the "South Coast" and Fort Taber in New Bedford. Over 17 years, Bob's Buddies Team has raised about $177,000 for CF Research and Grace and I have raised about $83,300.
It will be different for us this year. Grace died suddenly in January of heart failure. She won’t be there in person but will be there in our hearts. We’re certainly going to miss her and I’m dedicating this walk to her.
Bob is doing well. He is getting bigger and staying healthy. He is doing well in school, is active in sports, and is current a senior in high school. He visited a few colleges and to Joshua’s chagrin, he selected RIT (where his brother is!).
The CF Foundation announced that they are investing up to $9 million in additional funds in Arcturus Therapeutics to test an inhaled messenger RNA therapy that could treat the underlying cause of cystic fibrosis in all people living with this disease. If successful, the genetic-based therapy would provide the correct template to lung cells to produce a functional CFTR protein, helping to relieve symptoms of CF in the lungs.
The largest fundraiser for the CF Foundation is the Great Strides Walk. Your donation truly helps to find a cure. Any donation, no matter the size, would be appreciated. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those with CF!
Thank you for supporting the mission of the CF Foundation and our Great Strides Walk.
