Welcome to my Page

There are approximately 30,000 people living in the United States with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. One of these is Mara, the sister of my future son-in-law David. She has fought hard even undergoing experimental therapy to have as normal a life as possible.  I ride for Mara and others like her, and hope that you will support me in my efforts.

Although tremendous progress has been made in the search for a permanent cure for cystic fibrosis, the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By cycling, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of all people living with cystic fibrosis.  Will you join me? Training
With the help of my son ,Michael, who is in far better shape than me, I have some togs, new helmet, refreshed bike and a challenge to get in shape for a 25 mile ride. So far have done 13 and 17 miles on the Katy Trail-very flat. Did 17 miles at Creve Coeur Lake adding some hills and 15 miles at Forest Park w more frequent and somewhat steeper hills. Trying to ride exercise bike at home, plan to use Fitness Center at work to get in shape and lose weight for a worthy cause.
8/27 have been out 5 times on bike so far usually about 16-18 miles but have been adding hills. Have increased speed and strength. Working out at home and fitness center on bikes,elliptical. Gotta get my butt used to riding even w bike pants gets numb. Probably too much weight on it. Also wrists get numb at times.
9/2 Michael and I returned to Katy Trail-did 23 miles over 2 hrs- much better pace and endurance, only rested once and only 15 minutes, much less winded so I guess using fitness center after work is helping.
