Our Great Strides Story
I would like to introduce you to Sofia Martin. Sofia is currently 10 years old and to the untrained eye, is perfectly healthy. Sofia was born with cystic fibrosis (CF), a life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. On the inside however, Sofia must fight to slow down the progression of CF. Each day Sofia completes: two 30 minute lung clearance treatments, takes around 26 enzyme pills to help digest food, 4 additional pill medications, 2 puffs of albuterol twice a day, 3 nebulizer treatments, along with 3 additional medications. Imagine having to complete these treatments, while also trying to be a normal kid. Currently, there is no cure for CF, but we want to change that.
At Mascaro Construction, we feel that we have a responsibility to give back and make a difference in the lives of others. Eleven years ago, one of our employees Nate Martin, approached us to support his walk team for his daughter Sofia, and we have been committed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation ever since.
The CF Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. The Foundation funds more CF research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support.
Today, I am asking you to join our efforts to Construct the Cure at Mascaro's Guest Bartender night. The CF Foundation created Construct the Cure to provide our industry with a unique, networking opportunity within their largest national fundraiser, Great Strides. By participating in Construct the Cure your company will build hope for Sofia and the 30,000 others in the United States living with CF.
I hope you will commit to attending the event or making a donation.
