My Great Strides Story
Colin is nine years old. Katelyn is seven. Their whole lives they have battled Cystic Fibrosis. But Cystic Fibrosis is not their whole life.
While every morning and evening involve an hour or so of inhalers, nebulizers, nasal rinses and chest therapies - just to maintain "normal" health - in between the treatments, Colin and Katelyn live it up.
They now practice Taekwondo, and with every new skill learned, they grow stronger physically. As they move up in belts, they are learning to set personal goals for themselves, and then work hard to achieve them.
In school, they are both exceptional students. With both stellar grades and outstanding behavior, their teachers have nothing but positive things to say about them. Colin loves the 3rd grade and Katelyn is doing awesome in 1st this year.
They love to read, ride bikes, play video games, build legos, and just hang out as a family and laugh together. Colin and Katelyn live a good life. Their medical record may say "Cystic Fibrosis," but CF doesn't define who they are or who they can become.
Every year we walk in Great Strides as a celebration of another year of kicking CF's butt.
