My Team CF Story
Hi there! My name is Kelsey Garvey and I will be running the 2019 Boston Marathon for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis -- a rare, genetic, life-shortening disease. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe.
I first learned about CF when I met Emily Reid. Our moms work together and I used to babysit Emily and her siblings many years ago. Emily Reid is 14 years old and a freshman at Haverhill High School, where she plays field hockey. She's been a dancer at The Dance Works for 12 years. Emily was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis before her birth. With the help of the doctors at Children's Hospital Boston, she has remained relatively healthy. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has raised critical funds in her lifetime, resulting in her life expectency to increase, as well as providing many new treatments for many patients. Emily always has a smile on her face. She loves spending time with her family and friends. She is an animal lover, with an intense affinity for puppoes. She is thrilled to be going to see her crush, Shawn Mendes this summer and looks forward to any opportunity to travel. Emily and her family thank you for your support.
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease, but together, we can help add tomorrows to the lives of people with cystic fibrosis.Help me reach my fundraising goal by donating to my campaign today. Your gift will help support lifesaving research, medical, and education programs for cystic fibrosis. Thank you!
See you in April, Boston!!
