My Team CF Story
Please join Team Dax Attack Friday, October 27th at Run Like Hell to raise awareness and funding to battle Cystic Fibrosis.
Dax continues to defy the odds. He works hard to ensure he stays healthy including consistently doing his daily chest physiotherapy, taking his pills and eating tons of calories. He continues to struggle to put on additional weight, but we are grateful for his healthy lungs and so much energy. He is excelling in school in 3rd grade, trying his best at basketball and baseball, playing with his neighborhood friends and making his way through the Harry Potter series.
What should you expect if you join our team? This is not your normal 5K. When you Run Like Hell, you do it in costume, through a cemetery and you end up at an unforgettable after party. Don't run or walk? No problem! You can come out and Party Like Hell!
What is cystic fibrosis (CF)? Cystic fibrosis is a life-threatening, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and progressively limits the ability to breathe. In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage and eventually respiratory failure. In the pancreas, the mucus prevents the release of digestive enzymes that allow the body to break down food and absorb vital nutrients. An estimated 30,000 children and adults in the United States have CF. With your support, you will help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation reach its goal.
