My Team CF Story
Dear Family, Friends and Associates,
Henry is an inquisitive, happy 3-year-old who loves dinosaurs, puzzles, playing with Legos and watching movies.
In October, Henry became a big brother. He loves Josephine and is fast becoming a protective force in her life.
Henry has Cystic Fibrosis.
June is fast approaching and those of you who know me well, know that means it is time for my annual Team Henry request. If you are reading this for the first time, let me explain.
I am part of a group of off-road motorcyclists, Merrimack Valley Trail Riders (MVTR), who partner with Cystic Fibrosis each June to organize a charity ride. This year, the ride is the weekend of June 7th - 9th.
I have participated in this event for more than 20 years and have always been enthusiastic about finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Research has resulted in life changing devices and medications and I have seen the impact of these innovations in the lives of CF patients over the last few decades.
My desire to find a cure for CF magnified when Henry was born. Henry is the son of my son's childhood friend. Henry was diagnosed with CF in utero and was born in July of 2015. Henry's current regimen for dealing with his CF includes taking enzymes with every meal, Vest Therapy, an Albuterol inhaler prior to Vest Therapy, and a pulmozyme nebulizer during vest therapy. In October, Henry was able to add Orkambi to this regimen. Orkambi is a mixture of two drugs, Lumacaftor and Ivacaftor, which help treat the underlying symptoms of CF.
Since Henry's birth, I have become passionate about it raising money for CF research. I have set lofty goals for fundraising in years past. Unfortunately, I have fallen short of those annual goals, but in the last 4 years, Team Henry has raised $41,128.00!
Ultimately, our goal is to find a cure for CF. Until that time, I will ride for a cure with the support of Team Henry. Please consider joining our fight as we work towards a cure for these incredible and so deserving people.
I am humbled by the outpouring of love for Henry and the generous support we’ve received in years past. If you are able to donate, I have established an online fundraising page through Cystic Fibrosis. The link is below. If you would prefer to send a check, please make it out to Cystic Fibrosis and mail it to me at PO Box 656, Contoocook, NH 03229. Thank you in advance for considering a donation!
