About Xtreme Hike
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Xtreme Hike program takes hikers through some of the most scenic trails in the nation to raise funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis. Xtreme Hike is about reaching new heights physically and philanthropically. It is a journey of passion, determination, and personal triumph, as much as it is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people with cystic fibrosis.
Since 2012, the Northern California Xtreme Hike has hiked over 65 miles in iconic locations including Yosemite National Park & Lake Tahoe, and raised over $387,000 in support of finding a cure to cystic fibrosis. For our 5th year, the Northern California Chapter will join with the Sacramento Chapter and bring our hike back to Yosemite National Park! Join us on this amazing journey to view new sights and climb higher heights.
In just one day, a dedicated team of Xtreme Hikers will hike a 20+ miles in Yosemite to raise funds and awareness for the CF Foundation’s mission to find a cure for cystic fibrosis. Hikers will train for three months to prepare for this amazing journey, while committing to raise funds to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. All hikers are provided with all the tools needed to reach their goals, both on and off the trail.

What makes the Northern California Xtreme Hike unique?
Hikers are encouraged to raise a minimum of $3,000 to support the mission of the CF Foundation in the months leading up to their hike. On event weekend, they will trek along beautiful trails offering incredible views along Yosemite’s mountains. The 2016 Xtreme Hike trail is soon-to-be-announced, but the program is proven to challenge hikers with rolling hills and reward them with beautiful panorama views in this iconic hiking spot. Hikers are supported by trained hiking guides from Y Explore, leading them safely throughout the trail from beginning to end. Xtreme Hike is topped off with a celebration dinner and awards ceremony, along with a reflection & farewell breakfast Sunday morning. You will not want to miss this opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, and challenging each other to help cure cystic fibrosis one step at a time.
“The CF Xtreme Hike of the Tahoe Rim Trail was epic…. But more than the views and all the miles, it was the people that made the event so special for me. It was such a positive and life-affirming experience to be with so many genuinely nice people for a weekend and hiking together for such an important cause. It was an Xtreme pleasure … and can't wait to do it again next year!” ~ Jim, 4x Xtreme Hiker
"I've served as a guide for all four of the Extreme Hikes and honestly, they get better and better! The Tahoe XH was truly the best yet, and that is due to the efficiency and leadership of the event hosts, and the dedication, passion, and training of all the participants. Guiding for the Nor Cal CFF has been an uplifting and affirming experience for me personally!” ~ Dan, Y Explore Guide
