My Xtreme Hike Story
I am one lucky girl.
I have the best brother in the world. I truly do. Just look what he’s doing now!!
Pete is traveling to Vail, Colorado with me and on Sept 21st will be taking every step of a one-day extreme hike with me and my amazing #InThisTogether Team, in the name of adding more tomorrows for my girls, his nieces, who have been climbing a mountain of their own for their whole lives in their battle with Cystic fibrosis.
Pete is no stranger to the pain of being dealt some scary cards in this life. Four years ago, he lost the love of his life, after watching her deteriorate from multiple sclerosis over many years. His son Max was 11 when he lost his mom that year. Pete had taken care of her with SO much love and now pours that same enthusiasm into being the most amazing single parent to his now teenage son.
Trust me, Pete understands first-hand the fragile nature of every beautiful day we are given in our lifetime and it’s no surprise that he wants to help protect those days for his nieces, Rachel and Megan, who face a monster of a disease bent on stealing their tomorrows. Hiking the Grand Canyon CF Hike a few years ago might have been the hardest endeavor of my life, and I’m not sure if I’d have the courage to get out there again without my bro.
But- we know that spending 15 hours climbing a high-altitude mountain without all the oxygen your body would crave for the job, is actually nothing compared to the what 30,000 people with CF in this nation face from morning to night every day. And if that commitment inspires some people to donate towards our mission to buy the research science to save my girls, we’re ALL IN.
Please take a moment and join me in celebrating Pete’s gesture of love by showing my brother the strength of human kindness and generosity, something I have felt in my heart every day throughout our journey and mission to add more tomorrows for my babies over these last 25 years.
We invite you to make a generous donation ASAP (hike is coming soon!) through this page. We cherish your big heart and we will carry you with us over that mountain, certain that strength comes in numbers and that the day is sure to come when we can truly say CF stands for cure found.
