Our Xtreme Hike Story
Cystic fibrosis is a life-threatening, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and progressively limits the ability to breathe. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is aggressively working towards finding a cure.
In the 1980s life expectancy of people with cystic fibrosis was 14 years. 10 years back, the life expectancy was around 18 years. Today it is 37 years.
37 is still too young!
Tristan has the D508F and R1066H mutations. There is not a drug available for his mutation combination at this point. With your help there will be soon. We will be moving back to North Carolina this summer and going back to UNC at Chapel Hill for Tristan's CF clinics. UNC is one of the best research hospitals in the country, we will get Tristan involved in any studies available. The R1066H mutation is very rare so it is essential to get the mutation included in these studies.
