My Xtreme Hike Story
HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO FOR A CURE?
I am participating in my 5th VA Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Xtreme Hike on Saturday, September 23, 2017. I will be hiking 30ish MILES in ONE DAY. It will be my longest hike ever!!!
Why do I keep on pushing myself and doing something that crazy? Because I believe that I can make a difference for people living with CF. Doing this Xtreme hike is a HUGE commitment. The training is intense, but the rewards are priceless.
When I first signed up, I thought I was just signing up to hike. Little did I know what this event was all about!!! Not only did I learn to hike and been on amazing adventures, but most importanly, I met amazing people and forged great friendships. I actually found a way to raise funds and awareness for CF while doing something for me, somehting that I truly needed as a CF mother, something that has helped me deal with CF better and be a better person.
There has been tremenduous advances in CF in the past 10 years that we have been involved. But we are far from a cure. Even though my son Thomas has had access to amazing drugs and treatments, not all with CF are this lucky. Many cannot take these treatments (because fo their specific gene, age or are simply too sick) and many do not respond as well as Thomas has. So much more has to be done before ALL with CF can live long and healthy lives.
Please, join me in helping to add tomorrows for people with CF. SUPPORT MY EFFORTS BY DONATING RIGHT HERE TODAY. No amount is ever too small. Let’s add tomorrows to the lives of people with CF. TOGETHER WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
