This is the Kamnikar family’s first CF fundraising event since our son Walker was diagnosed with Cystic fibrosis. This has been quite a year for us as we are learning to adjust to life with cystic fibrosis. Walker is doing well at this time but we are well aware of the fight we have ahead of us.
Walker gets 2-3 medication nebulizers and percussion therapy along with multiple medications to fight his Cystic Fibrosis daily. He also attends UCSF Children’s hospital on a contusions basis for the rest of his life to check/treat for bacteria, lung/pancreas function and weight gain.
Our hope is that a medication to actually stop the Constant mucus production for Walker in his lungs and pancreas will soon be found.
Currently CF patients lives are cut way to short, but with fundraising and research we hope that won’t be the case in the future. With that said We walk for Walker and all others affected.
Please help in our fight by making a donation to our team “Team Walker” Jenny & Shaun as we walk on April 27 at Heather Farms in Walnut Creek CA. Thank you for making a difference in Walkers life.
Help add tomorrows for our son and others!
Shaun & Jenny Kamnikar
By making a donation, you are joining a growing group of people committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis. We will not rest until all those with cystic fibrosis have a cure. The time is now. Together, we can conquer this disease.
Great Strides is a fun event that provides a fantastic opportunity for family, friends, students, and colleagues to come together to make a difference in the lives of people with CF
Important note on Attendance at Foundation Events:
Infections can exacerbate CF symptoms and worsen lung function, so we ask attendees at Foundation-sponsored events to observe the following best practices to reduce the risk of germ transmission:
Regularly wash hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Maintain a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection.
To further reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. All Great Strides walks are non-smoking events.
