Annabelle was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis through California's newborn screening process. As her parents, it was the hardest thing we've ever had to face, but we are so glad that there are organizations like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation who are committed to finding a cure for our sweet little girl and the other 30,000 people in the U.S. living with CF.
For those of you who don't know, CF is a life-shortening disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. The extra thick, sticky mucus fills the lungs and can cause frequent lung infections, and eventually leads to respiratory failure. The absorption of nutrients is also hindered by the mucus in the digestive tract, so most people with CF need to take pancreatic enzymes every single time they eat to aid in absorption. The average life expectancy for someone with CF is 41 years old and there is no cure...YET.
Great Strides is a great event and awesome opportunity for family and friends to rally together to show our support and help make finding a cure THAT much closer!
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been at the forefront of finding new treatments and therapies that have increased the life expectancy from infancy to 41 years old. For the first time ever, half of all CF patients are adults. That means that people are living longer, fuller, healthier lives and it's all thanks to the generous donations from people like you!
We're asking you to join us in fighting this devastating disease so Annabelle can live to be a great-great-great grandmother and be able to breathe deeply and enjoy her life. Please consider donating today so you can help "add tomorrows" for everyone living with CF! "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." -Proverbs 31:25
