My Great Strides Story

  • Fawkes Patrol
  • My Grandson Fawkes

There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. I walk for them and hope you will support me in my efforts.

I'm Fawkes's Granddad so this is very personal for our family, we hope you will join us (Fawkes Patrol) and join us in this fight for his life.  Every child should have a posse to care for them and in Fawkes's case helping find a cure for CF helps others as well.  Walk with us, give to this noble cause, follow us as we fight the good fight for Fawkes and all his fellow Cfers.

In 2015, Orkambi was approved for CFers 12 and up with Fawkes specific mutation (double delF508). The drug trials have moved down to 6 and up, so we're still waiting; meanwhile, his lungs, pancreas, and liver continue  being damaged. Orkambi is a combination of Ivacaftor and Lumacaftor which can slow the decline, but it still needs to be mixed with a third modulator to be most effective.

Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By walking today, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me? Support me by making a donation to my Great Strides fundraising campaign today!

Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families.
