Our Great Strides Story
Weston was born with cystic fibrosis, an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. There are approximately 30,000 people in the United States that are affected by this disease. A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and can lead to life-threatening lung infections. It also obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. Weston spends countless hours doing breathing treatments and takes multiple medications daily to stay healthy. Since birth he has spent several weeks in the hospital, despite these efforts. CF is a relentless disease that need’s a cure and better treatments to give him a longer, healthier life.
People affected by CF are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. We walk for them. Will you join Weston's Warriors and help add tomorrows? All we need you to do to become a member of our team is click on the "Join our Team" button.
