It's that time of year again...to walk for awareness of Cystic Fibrosis. Our Crusin' For Clare team will be participating in our 8th Great strides walk this Sunday May 20th.
My brother Jeff and his wife Lisa live in San Diego, CA and have a beautiful girl, Clare, who is 7 years old and was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was born.
Clare hit a new milestone at her last CF clinic day, jumping into the 30th percentile for her weight. Clare has been in the 25% or lower since birth, and has been working toward this goal on a daily basis. Research tells us that weight gain is directly related to lung function, and we are extremely pleased she has finally reached her goal.
Clare's daily routine includes a nebulizer and vest treatment before school, and again after school. Clare takes 4-5 pills before meals, along with a multivitamin that makes the size of my prenatal vitamins look tiny. :) We are thankful Clare has been healthy and hasn't needed to visit the hospital. When Clare is not managing her health, she enjoys gymnastics, swimming (she can do 100 flips in a row underwater), art of any kind, girl scouts and spending time with friends. She also loves to include herself in ANY game her brothers are playing, whether invited or not.
Please consider walking with our family, or donating to our national team in support of Cystic Fibrosis.
Walk with us. Donate. Breathe. So that Clare can breathe a little easier, too.
