It's that time again for ask for your support for my cousin Greg and everyone living with Cystic Fibrosis - HELP US FIND A CURE! Here is my cousin Lori's email, (Greg's mom) about what this walk means to them and our whole family for this year.
Family Dear and Friends,
When I wrote our thank you letter last year I wrote about ENTHUSIASM. The amount of strength, love, support, commitment, and especially in the many generous ways that you all give in your time and in the funding to help our 24/7 researchers find a cure. You will all be happy to know that the team was the 4th highest on L.I. in fundraising. We came in at just shy of $21K and that is due to the enthusiasm of all of you.
Many of you follow our family and countless others in the daily obsession known as Facebook. I haven’t written all that much about the struggles that Greg has encountered over the last year. Now that he is approaching his 16th birthday and with the endless information that the internet provides, Greg knows and more so understands so much more about his illness and the fact that this can affect all of his organs at some point. He could become a diabetic, he may have heart issues, cause problems with reproduction, and so on.
Greg started withdrawing into a state of depression back in June when training for the football team proved to just be too much on his health forcing him (with the guidance of his CF Dr.) to quit the team. The worst part outside of his pulling away from everyone was the anger. Greg seemed angry at the world instead of his CF. The good thing is that Greg wasn’t in need of CF treatment but I was on a mission to find him treatment for all that the CF was making him deal with on the inside (his thoughts, feelings, and especially to find a person to talk him through it all).
It has been a rough 6 months under this roof but we are THRILLED to say that we have our (healthy, outgoing, and totally back to himself) son back. Our son has made his very own GREAT STRIDES IN HIMSELF the last few months and that is the new way that we are looking at WHY we are walking this June 8, 2014 at NYIT/Old Westbury in the Great Strides Walk for a cure. If you would like to join our team “THE G-MAN GROUP”go to: http://fightcf.cff.org/goto/g-manlcharkowick and you can click the button to join the walk team, set your fundraising goal (make your own personal donation right then and there with a c.c.), or if you can’t walk you can sign up as a (virtual walker) and make a donation of any size at all right there. We hope to see many of you on walk day.
Lori, Tom, Matt and Greg
So, please support Greg! Your love and support last year was overwhelming and I am hoping to reach my goal again this year!
Thanks so much in advance!
Lauren, Chris, Danielle and Matthew
