I can't believe that our very first walk as The G-Man Group was in 2006.We were so confused by everything that had been told to us only 6 months prior when Greg was diagnosed but by the time of that walk we were determined to be the best team that we could be! We were convinced that we would grow in numbers and spirit and we can happily say that we have been a TOP team in fundraising- EVERY YEAR SINCE! We were so hoping that this illness would be a memory by now yet here we are- another year of my fighting for the words to write in a new way to PLEAD for another year of a donation of any size at all because it ALL ADDS UP to new drugs to be made, new techniques and therapies to be invented and go to a trial to see if it works. A movie is even coming to a theatre near you in March called: Five Feet Apart. It is about two people that each have CF and fall for each other. People that have CF can't be near each other or should remain safly- feve feet apart to prevent each other from getting sick. CF people can have a bacteria in their lungs that is ONLY dangerous to one another! The Great Strides walk is really the only event that CFers can be near each other since it is NOT a closed area.
Please join us when we walk once again as The G-Man Group on Sunday, June 2nd at the new location this year of beautiful Adelphi University campus in Garden City. There is a button on here to join our team and once you do that you can make a donation on your own page that will add onto the team total. From your page you will customize it with your own letter to ask your family and friends to help you raise funds for the team. You can send e-mails from your page and you can even download the app to your smart phone and people can make a donation right there on your phone whereever you are!
If you are not comfortable with an online donation- you can always write a personal check out to: CYSTIC FIBROSIS FOUNDATION and write G-Man Group in the memo, and mail it out to our home: Charkowick Family, 1720 Meadowbrook Road, Merrick, NY 11566. I collect my sent checks each week and send to corporate in Maryland where they add to our team total thanks to a G-Man Group form that I send along with the checks. PLEASE know that it WILL take a while for your check to clear especially if it is closer to walk day in June. CFF sends out a thank you letter and all of your info. will be on the letter to have at tax time for your charitable donation.
Please HELP US and join us today. The walk is in 3 months and you have plenty of time to do this. Even if people only can give $5, just think of the total you will have by June if they do! We LOVE AND APPRECIATE EVERYONE OF YOU! We can't do this without you and you have each made us stronger by loving us and standing by us throught these years. WE WILL FIND A CURE!
Important note on Attendance at Foundation Events:
Infections can exacerbate CF symptoms and worsen lung function, so we ask attendees at Foundation-sponsored events to observe the following best practices to reduce the risk of germ transmission:
Regularly wash hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Maintain a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection.
To further reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. All Great Strides walks are non-smoking events.
