There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. 2 of those very special people are my daughters, Alexandra and Samantha. Samantha, who is 18, has been fairly healthy her whole life, but has had some complications this last year and a few hospitalizations. Alexandra, who is 23, is starting to see her lung function decline, and her energy level decrease. She has been hospitalized many times in her life, and her numbers always jumped back up, but that is not the case any longer. This disease is progressive, and without a cure, I will continue to watch my children's health decline.
My nephew Dan, lost his fight with CF a few years ago, he was only in his early 20's. He was such an amazing person, and I truly miss his smiling face, his stupid jokes, and his big heart.
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. My family is walking in the Great Strides event to raise much needed money to find that cure. CF is an orphan disease, and they receive no government funding. All the progress that has been made has been through fundraisers like Great Strides. Please consider supporting Team Keiser by making a donation, or get your family and friends together and join us! We would love to see you there!
