Thank you all for visiting our Great Strides page! Reid has had an eventful year. This last October, he turned 9 years old and is in 3rd Grade. He has continued Karate and has learned so much doing it. Self-discipline, motivation, and definitely has helped with his self-esteem. He's a little guy and we want him to be confident!
This past year has been a roller coaster for Reid healthwise. His lungs have always remained clear, and we are SO thankful for that! He continues to do his daily treatments: Vest (twice a day); Breathing Treatment (once a day, unless he's sick); taking all of his medications (prevacid, enzymes, vitamins, nose spray, singulair, pulmozyme, etc.). He is such a trooper and never complains about what all he has to do. He's our hero for sure! He still struggles with gaining weight. We have tried several different options over this past year, adding things here and there, and changing up the formulas in his feeding tube. It's helped some, but he still needs to gain more to be the healthiest he can be. He struggles with daily meals, just not being interested in eating, but he does eat some food and we just keep encouraging him, explaining to him how important it is for his body to have food to give him energy and make him even stronger than he already is!
There is a new triple combination drug coming out very soon that can benefit Reid! We are so excited about it. It's not a cure, but it definitely slows down the progression of the disease and will give him a better quality of life until that cure is found! This is where your donations are going- and they are working hard on these drugs to help these warriors! We can't wait for it to become available. But in the meantime, we live life as any other family would, taking it a day at a time, making the most of each day. We hope that you will walk with us this year, help us to spread awareness, and fundraise as much as possible so that Reid can grow up to live a long, healthy life. We love you and thank you for your support throughout his 9 years of life with us so far! We've had such amazing support from friends and family. We are extremely Blessed!

Important note on Attendance at Foundation Events:
Infections can exacerbate CF symptoms and worsen lung function, so we ask attendees at Foundation-sponsored events to observe the following best practices to reduce the risk of germ transmission:
To further reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. All Great Strides walks are non-smoking events.
