Tobias' Story (IG:@cfteamtobias)
October 26, 2016 He was born.
November 3, 2016 He was diagnosed based on the Meconium Ileus that landed him in surgery along with a NICU stay AND a Positive Newborn screen.
He has had a NICU hospitalization, 3 surgeries, Flu hospitalization, IV Antibiotics hospitalization, ER Visits, multiple CF Clinic and pediatric visits. He has caught all the sickness, viruses and such that little babies can. He has Class 1 mutations Cystic Fibrosis which has manifested not only in his GI System but also his respiratory system. Today, at 2 years old, he battles malabsorption issues and respiratory-mucus build up issues associated with the disease. He walks, runs, smiles, cries, plays, dances and loves. He watches Puppy Dog Pals faithfully.
We want a cure to be found in his lifetime. Please walk with us to raise awareness and donate to find a cure. This is our third year walking. #WhyIStride4Tobias #dauntlessnevergiveup
Important note on Attendance at Foundation Events:
Infections can exacerbate CF symptoms and worsen lung function, so we ask attendees at Foundation-sponsored events to observe the following best practices to reduce the risk of germ transmission:
Regularly wash hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Maintain a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection.
To further reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. All Great Strides walks are non-smoking events.
