My Great Strides Story
Why I Walk
There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. Toddler, Desi Roney,https://www.drivingmissdesi.com/ is one of them. People living with CF struggle every day just to breathe. Desi was diagnosed with this life-threatening, genetic disease at 9 days old. She undergoes daily breathing treatments, wears a specially designed vest that takes the place of the traditional chest percussion's CF patients need, and takes a whopping 25 pills everyday to help her digest food and breathe easier. I walk for a cure. I walk for Desi Roney.
Why YOUR Donations Matter
Cystic fibrosis is considered an orphaned disease, meaning that government funding is not sent for CF research. Major pharmaceutical companies are only researching because of funds received from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Thanks to donations and sponsorship, real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease, though advancements in medicine have now raised the average life expectancy to 40 years old. By donating to Great Strides, you are helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis.
