The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is holding its annual Great Strides Atlanta Walk and Fundraiser on Saturday, May 17th. Our firm, Holman and Company, has partnered with the Atlanta Insurance Alliance and Insure The Cure to help raise donations for the Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation so that we can help promote awareness of the disease and help towards one day finally finding a cure.
CF is a disease of the lungs and immune system that affects thousands of people and families across the country. Clay Snellings is one of our friends in the Atlanta Insurance Alliance and his daughter, Emily, was diagnosed with CF at an early age and currently suffers from the troubling disease. Each morning, Emily, has to undergo specific treatments that attempt to curb the effects of this debilitating ailment. This includes twenty minutes of wearing a vest, hooked to a compressor, which is designed to shake her lungs to remove mucus and also taking over twenty pills, so that her body receives the nutrients that it needs to perform daily tasks.
Cystic Fibrosis research is consistently underfunded by the government due to the smaller number of people that are affected with the disease in comparison to other life-threatening illnesses. Tremendous breakthroughs are happening with new experimental treatments and scientists believe they will be able to increase the average life expectancy into the fifties for someone suffering from the disease one day soon. Thirty years ago the average life expectancy was much lower. In fact, a victim’s average life expectancy has nearly doubled just in the last fifteen years!!
Thank you in advance for your support of this worthy cause. Your gift will help add tomorrows to the lives of people with cystic fibrosis by supporting life-saving research and medical progress. Your gift is 100-percent tax deductible.
