Hello everyone. It will be 6 years on July 23rd that my beautiful Jimmy passed away. WE celebrated his 21st birthday on March 13th. Hard to believe 6 years have passed. It seems like yesterday when my daughter and I were rushing to get to White Plains hospital after my husband called to tell us they couldn't hook up Jimmy's oxygen on the plane, had to perform CPR and was being taken back to the hospital. I never dreamt that he was gone. I just thought they had problems hooking up the oxygen and had to take him back to the hospital. When we arrived there and I saw Jimmy's dad in the hallway, he was white as a ghost. I knew then something was wrong. He grabbed me and said he is gone Alison! I started screaming. I couldn't believe it. How could this happen. Well it did.
Now that Jimmy is gone, my family and I will do what it takes to raise money to help find a cure so that no one has to go through what Jimmy went through for 15 years and no family has to endure what my family has gone through. To this day, almost 6 years later, things are not the same. They will never be. We try to move on because we have to. No parent is supposed to bury their child. Cystic Fibrosis must be stopped and I vow to help that become a reality.
Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By walking today, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join me? Support me by making a donation to my Great Strides fundraising campaign today!
Great Strides is a fun, family-friendly event that raises awareness and support for people with CF and their families.
