Another year is upon us... Brandon is 24!!! He is still the Apple of his Mom's eye...and his Aunt Pats too! When I think back to that day in the NICU when the doctor said to me 'he might have cystic fibrosis' and my response 'what is that? you don't die from it do you?' The doctor said yes. Yes. That is all. As difficult as this memory is, I am thrilled to see how far research on this disease has come. We are anxiously waiting for the new medication that will make Brandon's day to day life so much easier... praying for FDA approval late 2019 or early 2020. The CFF wants to be SURE it is exactly the best medication because it will help such a high percentage of the people with cf. New medications would not be possible without the CFF getting directly involved in searching out the brightest and best scientists and funding progress through research and FDA approval. Please donate this year... it is a critical time with research being so close to finding the cure for this damned disease. There are approximately 30,000 people living with cf. We know so many ourselves. We keep in touch and pray for them. Your donation helps us all with new medications and even helps navigate a life crisis. Click the 'Join our Team' button and you can make a donation, and come and walk with us. We would love to see you April 28th! Brandon and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Important note on Attendance at Foundation Events:
Infections can exacerbate CF symptoms and worsen lung function, so we ask attendees at Foundation-sponsored events to observe the following best practices to reduce the risk of germ transmission:
Regularly wash hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand gel.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your inner elbow.
Maintain a safe 6-foot distance from anyone with a cold or infection.
To further reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation’s attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. All Great Strides walks are non-smoking events.
